as it is presently, and time has a way of changing what is to what was, there is, to date, no simple way of retrieving what appliers are on any particular Outfit. outfits came about around the SL Viewer 2 days: 2010 or there abouts. mesh avatars 2013, mesh heads 2015, so we've had plenty of time to put things together.
if any one of the several genii involved in improving user experiences were made aware of the frustration of preserving an outfit's appliers don't you think some one of them would have had a solution by now? unfortunately, a new forum platform implemented by Mark Kingdon at the helm of Linden Lab's revolutionary Viewer 2 forces seemed to alleviate any attention given to community interactivity. and, if the Lab were actually listening to our cruel circumstances, when do you think they'd likely incorporate the fix into the spagetti monster? if you thought "never" you'd probably be right.
so, i suppose, instead of waiting for the counter revolution to happen, it's up to the hapless remnants to create a workable solution. now, as it is, i'm fairly retarded in knowledge for how to put this function into a usable system. my building, scripting, and posing skills are all severely tested in keeping up with the miriad amount of new features dangled in front of our nose. nonetheless, i am stubborn by nature, so these development chores will certainly bear fruit.
firstly, we have to stablilize the avatar's head. we are, after all, living in a virtual world. so, a suitable "prop" must be designed to focus our attention directly onto the area of the avatar we wish to address. how about a salon chair? DONE.
of course, with any prop pose, we must have adjustments to the multitude of variable avatar shapes and sizes. hover height and foot shape do considerable damage to a precisely positioned avatar and scripted camera focus so that's taken care of with the freely available AVsitter scripts.
as is illustrated in the top photo, as a preliminary see-if-it-works step i've designed the AVsitter dialog options to deal with hover height differences for 0.120 and 0.000. so, if i forget to zero my hover height, i can easily position myself where i've scripted the camera to be on the Z axis.
of course, this only works for my avatar's height presently. i'll have to toil away at getting AVsitter's scripts to allow for multiple height adjustments if i can find the appropriate lines.
wish me luck. it's a rather extensive and complex system and it might not lend itself to customization.
